What to expect from Android 4.2 Key Lime Pie

I think all of you have already got used to the fact that Google updates its OS quite frequently. It was proved by the fact that Android 4.0 Ice Cream was released at the end of 2011 and in 7 months the next update in the form of 4.1 Jelly Bean version was announced. Well, I think that we may expect a new update by the end of this year and no one will be surprised about that. But what features may be improved or included in the new Android 4.2 Key Lime Pie? That’s what we’re going to talk about in this article.

Performance profiles
You might have had some troubles when you needed to adjust your device to some specific situation. You had to low down volume, turn down brightness, switch on “Flight” mode, etc. Android 4.2Key Lime Pie needs to have some really good modes, especially energy saving modes, that will be applicable in different situations. For example, it would be great to have a mode with maximum performance settings and a mode with minimum performance settings. Some manufacturers add such features to their mobile phones, but still it’d be great to see that in the OS by default.
Improved multiple device support
Google has done a really great job of satisfying the needs of many Android fans who use several Android devices but still there’re some things to be done. Let’s take for example a Video App that provides downloading movies from Google Play. If you have started to watch a movie on one device you won’t be able to continue watching this movie from the moment you stopped on another device. Well, you may use a web browser player to do that, but I hope that Google understands that it’s not really convenient for a user with several devices, and will fix this feature in the next OS release.
Better social networks support
There’re not many options for social network fans in Android. At the moment it is companies-manufacturers who support social networks options and add different social widgets and plugins to their user interfaces. Thus, Sony provides great Facebook integration on its devices. Why shouldn’t Android pay attention to this feature? Surely, first of all Google will promote its own social network Google+ but nevertheless you can’t deny the fact that it’s not the most popular social network. And good support of other social networks will please a lot of Android users.
Text input
We can rightly say that text input is Android’s weak point. While HTC and Sony offer a new Swype input method that allows you typing by drawing lines on your keyboard, Google can boast nothing of the kind. So it’d great to see an improved situation in Key Lime Pie.
Video chat application
Most of the Android smartphones and tablets are provided with a front end camera (and Nexus 7 even doesn’t have back end one). But at the same time you won’t find built-in application for video chat. So you have to download Skype or another messenger and hope that it will work all right.
So in order to fill in this gap Google may improve their Google Talk app by adding video calls function. Personally I think that would be great.
Choose several contacts
Android contacts menu is pretty convenient but there’s still room for perfection. What if you want to write an email or text message to a couple of your friends and not just to one? Now you have to send the letter to one contact and then – one by one to others. It would be great to see the option of ticking all the contacts you want to send a message to in Key Lime Pie.
SMS synching among several devices
If you enjoy exchanging text messages and use more than one mobile phone then you might have come across the situation when you don’t have the device you need. Google stores SMS in phone memory but it’d be great to have backup copies in the SIM card memory or on SD card. Another variant is to keep SMS in the cloud storage.
Do not update automatically
I think many of you know the situation when you don’t want to update your software but it keeps notifying you. So it would be useful to have such feature in Android 4.2 Key Lime Pie Surely you can simply ignore such update notifications but they’re irritating.
