This custom recovery allows users to perform more dev-related functions. For example, with TWRP recovery, you can install updates, flash custom ROMs, restore backups, reset the phone and much more. Today, we are going to see how to flash TWRP Recovery version 2.2.1 on the Galaxy S Plus i9001.

  • Download the TWRP Recovery 2.2.1 file.

TWRP Recovery 2.2.1 for Samsung Galaxy S GT-i9001 — Installation guide

  1. Switch off the device
  2. Reboot Galaxy S into Recovery mode. Hold down the Volume Up and Power buttons. Release both of them when the Samsung logo appears. When you say “Android out of the Box” on the display, tap theMenu button. During bootup, don’t touch the Home button. If you do so, the device will enter RAM Dump Mode.
  3. Select Apply update from sd card/ Install zip from sd card from the recovery menu.
  4. Find the twrp-2.2.1-recovery.zip file and give confirmation for installation.
  5. Reboot the device afterwards.
  6. Switch off the device.
  7. Reboot the phone into Recovery mode again (similarly as you did in step 2).
  8. When the TWRP Recovery menu becomes visible, you’ve been successful in replacing the stock recovery by the new custom recovery.
