Amazon, the biggest and widest online retail giant, has opened there restricted walls to the vast majority. Just recently, the online shopping master launched their Android App store in nearly 200 countries and welcome developers from around the globe to build new apps for their Amazon customers.
Amazon said that Android users from the listed countries can now enjoy and download apps from the Amazon App store and purchase them through their Amazon account. For customers, this means they can purchase and have access to the large and highly growing catalog of games and apps from Amazon. For developers or programmers, this means they will be having much larger audience that enjoys and downloads their creations.
The said App store was first launched in the United States in March 2011 before it expanded to the other countries in Europe. It has already allowed the customers from UK, Italy, Germany, France, Japan, Spain and the rest of the 200 countries listed on Amazon Blog to purchase or download the applications freely. In addition to the current distribution, Amazon also adds the ability to price the applications in the different currencies depending on the country where they are made available in. For instance, in Canada, the apps would be in CAD or Canadian Dollar or in Brazil, the price would be in BRL or Brazilian Reals.
Furthermore, the App store includes the same features just like what customers will find on Amazon’s retail site like the 1-Click Payments, personalized recommendations and customer reviews. This new feature enables Amazon to reach out as many customers and developers, that they haven’t reach out with their Amazon’s Kindle tablet, since it is not on sale in the worldwide markets. The App store was rolled out in order to make Android Applications available to as many smartphones users as possible, while enabling Amazon to sell applications that aren't available in Google Play.
In order to access the Amazon App store, users need to download the app from the Amazon website. In installing the app, users are required to adjust the settings of their Android phone, while allowing the installation of the “non-Market” applications. The user may be then directed to visit an App store site and requires them to enter their e-mail addresses or phone number. The message containing a link to download the store app will arrive shortly.
Amazon has been among in the roster of the smartest tablet industry for many years. The Amazon Kindle Fire, ran by Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, has been the first tablet available in HD graphics, vivid pictures and resolution ever. Many reports have come out that the said retail giant is planning to launch an Android Smartphone under the same name in the near future. This would expand and tie well with the latest App store expansion in nearly 200 countries.
Mike George, VP of apps and games at Amazon, the said App store expansion allows the developers from around the globe to target the distribution of their created games and apps into even wider audiences. This is yet another important step toward serving international users and new developers who are waiting to bring their creations into many Amazon customers globally.
