Jelly Bean for Sony Xperia Tablet S now Rollin’ Out

April 18 marks the day for the users of the Sony Xperia Tablet S to have a taste of Jelly Bean after some months of treading with Ice Cream Sandwhich. The update is now available across different countries and reports have stated a successful download from people in the US, South America, Japan, and Europe. The update arrived as Android 4.1.1 and brought the regular array of the Jelly Bean specific features along with other features and a handful of updates for other applications.

Since many may have been familiar with the Jelly Bean specifics, let us go into the specifics of Sony. The changelog notes its new features as being the TV SideView application. Though its more of a new app than a new feature for that matter, what the TV Sideview app does is to allow control select for Sony devices. The updated apps include the Walkman Album and Movie App which support the DLNAcontroller function.

An update for the Album and Movies app is also available, as well as for the Scrapbook app. The update for Scrapbook adds a Clip Widget and a Map clipping feature. Some of the remaining items include an updated on-screen keyboard, a bookmark support in its browser and an updated interface for the Camera app. The Jelly Bean specifics include Google Now and the actionable and improved notifications. This update from Ice Cream Sandwhich is indeed a big one and it guarantees to bring a new feel to the Xperia Tablet S, with a smoother and faster UI experience. In order to install this update, the Tablet must have a 300MB or more of free internal storage. To check the amount of your internal storage:

• Open your settings screen then tap on “storage”.
• Under the Internal storage, verify that there is a more than 300MB “Available” space.
• If there is a need to free a storage space, uninstall some applications or migrate some of them to your SD card.
