Updating Android 4.1.1 to Android 4.1.2 Firmware on Galaxy Note 2

Users from all around the globe, who are currently having a 4.1.1 Jelly Bean firmware on their Galaxy Note 2, can now update their devices to the latest Android firmware, the 4.1.2 Jelly Bean. Samsung announced the firmware update for the specified handset on Thursday. And, it is now available for download for the Note’s manual updating.
Samsung warns that the latest boost of the firmware from 4.1 to 4.2 will only be applicable to the Galaxy Note 2 N7100 handset. Users are discouraged to try the updating out with any other Android Devices. The users need to check their device’s model number first through tapping Settings, then About phone before taking into account the said firmware update.
The 4.2 firmware update can be installed in the Note 2 using the Samsung Kies software or through OTA or Over-the-Air updates. Meanwhile, users of the gadgets that are running on a custom ROM can get the firmware but through manual installation procedure, and this will be discussed in the following paragraphs.
In installing the stock firmware, it removes root access on a rooted devices. This requires users to undergo rooting once again on their device. The following are the guide that help users through the rooting process and in running the official Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean.

  • Download the CF-Auto-Root file for Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean.
  • Download the Odin V3.07 file and extract.
  • Turn off your phone and switch to Download Mode by pressing the Volume Down+Home+Power Button simultaneously.
  • Run the downloaded Odin File as Administrator, then connect your Galaxy Note 2 to the computer through USB cable while in the download mode.
  • When your phone is connected properly, you can see the “Added” message on Odin, and ID:COM port with a yellow number in Odin.
  • Click the PDA button and select “F-Auto-Root-t03g-to3gxx-gtn7100.tar.md5.”
  • Check the “Auto Reboot” option in Odin and the “F. Reset Time” option.
  • Click the “Start” button and begin the flashing process.
  • When the flashing process is complete, you can see the Pass message in Odin with a green background at the top of Odin.
  • After which, your phone will reboot automatically. As soon as you see the Samsung home screen, you can now unplug your device from the computer.
